Pilferage in Practice
The other day I had a premonition come true, I was warned by several people that the cash portion of payments that are made by the patients are very open to theft. And it happened, probably this is not the first time. The doctor happened to go back into the office after the clinic was closed by to pick up her coat. By this time the medical assistant / front office person had left the office. When the doctor happened to see the cas box there was no cash in it. She distinctly remembered that one of the patients had paid cash. So when she called the assistant on her cell she was told that the money was right there in the box. The next day when she went into the office the assistant comes and flourishes lot more money than the missing amounts.
This is I heard quite common unless you are on top of your collections every day there is a chance that people will get ideas based on your relaxed attitude about finances and not tracking appropriately.
